Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Dear Parents,

It has been 15 weeks since we commenced the new academic year back on the 5th September.  It has been a busy, but incredibly rewarding time, due to the efforts of your children.  They have immersed themselves into school life, taking responsibility for their own learning as well as contributing to the caring environment we continue to build.  Reports will be issued for our Primary students today and Secondary students will receive their reports before we start Term 2 in January.

Thank you to all students and parents that supported our first Swimming Festival.  It was inspiring to watch the Uzbekistan national team swimmers in action and equally inspiring to see our students competing.  Thank you to our swimming coaches for organising such a wonderful event and experience for our students. Congratulations also to our basketball players on their fixtures against the British School; it was wonderful to see our boys and girls from each section of the Secondary School competing so well, even with such limited training time before the matches.  We look forward to watching them play further in Term 2.

We are planning on running a Ski Trip in the New Year.  Mr. Robert and Mr. Griffin will be sending out letters to parents today which will provide more details and to gauge how much interest there is in this exciting opportunity.

Thank you to all of our families that donated gifts for our Charity Drive for the ‘Do Good Uzbekistan’ organization. There was a huge and generous response from our community and I know how much joy this will bring to those communities in Namangan and Ferghana.

As things stand, with regard to the current Uzbekistan quarantine regulations, the Primary School will open for campus learning on Monday 3rd January with the Secondary School operating online learning until Wednesday 11th January i.e. campus learning for secondary students will resume on Thursday 12th January.  Please remember, that to safeguard our school community, we will be asking that all students provide evidence of a negative PCR test, at least 72 hours before commencing campus learning in Term 2.  Please send your child’s negative PCR test to the appropriate School Nurse:

Pre School and Primary School Nurse:  mukaddam.mirzaeva@wistedu.com

Secondary School Nurse:  Sijoat.Ziyomuhamedova@wistedu.com

We are aware that the 3rd and 4th January may be decreed as a public holiday but at present, we have not received official notification.  If there are any changes to the start of Term 2 due the extension of New Year holidays, we will of course, let you know via email and also our new Telegram channel for parents:  please join this channel clicking on this link: https://t.me/wistparents .

Can I politely remind parents to ensure they wear their ID badges whilst on campus and that all children are in the correct uniform for the start of Term 2.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy, safe and peaceful holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year.

Principal
