BAKE IT! by Y6 Fox

Based on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) topic “Bake it!” Year 6 Fox students had an interesting lesson learning how yeast reacts when mixed with different ingredients. In the first experiment, the temperature of water was used as the variable. This helped the students to realise that yeast can be “killed” by hot water. During the second experiment, the students put various amounts of sugar in each glass bottle and saw how yeast will consume the sugar to start the fermentation process. Needless to say, the students were very excited to see the different results of the experiments!
