Y12 Media Studies Trip to United Soft
This week, Year 12 Media Studies group made a visit to United Soft animation studio. The studio is one of the most successful companies in Uzbekistan in the field of animation and visual effects for commercials, cinema and television. They produce many educational animated films and has recently, also been involved in creating animations for Bollywood films.
We were warmly welcomed by Mr Bekzhod Fayozov, the leading visual effects supervisor who had organized a very informative tour beginning with an overview of the animation process which took place in the company’s state-of-art training room. The students learned about the different stages of making animated sequences using Computer Generated Images (CGI) combined with traditional drawing techniques. It was exciting to watch some of the artists and computer graphics designers at work. We also toured the special effects department and the sound studio where we caught a glimpse of a famous local actress who had come in to do some voice work!
The students appreciated the opportunity to see some of the technologies and techniques they had learned about in theory applied in such an exciting real-life context. We learned that CGI in particular is a fast-growing area with lots of employment opportunities and Media Studies is a great subject to study for students interested in this area. We enjoyed the visit enormously and look forward to more educational trips.
