MP 3 Trip to Botanical Gardens
As part of our International Primary Curriculum (IPC) topic Years 5 & 6 had an adventure filled day at the Botanical Gardens. Students have been learning about ‘Global Immigration’ and the different reasons and ways in which this movement has and is taking part in the world around us.
Students were given a survival scenario from the IPC curriculum, they went on to construct a safe structure that could be used to protect themselves against various elements. The day involved collaboration amongst groups, planning and sharing of ideas and of course, the fun part of constructing the safe structure! Students looked at the insulation, purpose, strength and function of various materials while building on the learning about form and function of structures. Our upper primary students returned to school with a new perspective and understanding around this topic. A day I am sure they will remember.
