Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those parents that joined our Parent Information Session yesterday on student behaviour, with a focus on anti – bullying. We have very high expectations of our students in all areas of school life, especially behaviour. I have been very impressed with the amount of good and positive behaviour around the school with many acts of kindness and our students being helpful. At times though, young people inevitably make poor choices. We believe that it is our collective responsibility to help our students understand why they made a poor choice and the impact this has on them and the community. We therefore use restorative practice to solve underlying issues and make poor choices a genuine learning experience. Please refer to our Behaviour Policy and Anti Bullying Policy for more details, which can be found on the School Website.

Yesterday was Remembrance Day. Each year at 11 am on the 11th day and the 11th month (the date of the Great War armistice), many countries and people of different faiths, cultures and backgrounds around the world unite, and stop, for one minute to remember. As a school community we took some time to remember. We honour the sacrifices made by others to defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. We also acknowledged and honoured those innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict and acts of terrorism. Remembrance is not about glorifying war, it is more about hope for a peaceful future. I was moved by the engagement and understanding shown by our students in this act of remembrance.

This weekend, at Tashkent International School, we will see our U-15 and U-19 Boys football teams compete in the finals – congratulations to both teams for qualifying.  We wish them the very best of luck and I look forward to reporting on the results next week.

Have a lovely weekend and keep warm!

Best regards,

Brian Platts
