Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Shafina and Amon who represented the school so well in the Charity Chess Competition at the British School last Saturday.  Playing 9 games during the day they recorded a 4-5 and 5-4 record respectively.  It was a wonderful tournament with children of all ages, from a variety of schools taking part, all eager to ‘pit their wits’ against each other in a competitive and respectful environment. Next week, the basketball season commences and we look forward to the first round of games with the British School – good luck to all students representing our school.

This week, we have been having an internal  curriculum review focusing on what curriculum best fits the needs of your children. We have been conducting a variety of lesson observations, collating and examining curriculum documentation, surveying teachers and students opinions and exploring and discussing alternative curricula on offer.  I would like to run a parent focus group on our curriculum next week:  if you would be interested to attend next Tuesday at 4:30 pm, please contact me directly via:  principal@wistedu.com by Monday midday.

As you will know, we will be on holiday next Wednesday 8th December for Constitution Day.

On Thursday 9th December, we will be having a Parents Information Session on our catering provision.  We will start the presentation at 1:00 pm and it will be followed by some lunch in the cafeteria.  Please RSVP to info@wistedu.com so that we can sufficiently cater for numbers.

On Friday 10th December we will be having our Winter Concert.  Pre School and Year 1 and 2 will be commencing at 9:00 am.  Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be commencing at 11:00 am.  All parents are invited to attend.  The Secondary School Winter Concert will commence at 2:00 pm but will unfortunately will not be open to parents due to student numbers and COVID restrictions.

On Saturday 11th  December, we will be having a our first Swimming Festival.   The program includes a ‘master class’ from Uzbekistan national team athletes. The performance will be in swimming and synchronized swimming. A short question and answer session will be organized with the athletes afterward. Our students will also have the opportunity to compete against each other in swim races (prior registration required).

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend and I look forward to seeing you at one of our events next week.

Best wishes,

Brian Platts

Principal
